Problem

Customer needs help locating QuickBooks company files and/or backup files.

Cause

Not applicable.

Solution

For XP:

Click on the Windows Start button and go to Search (1).

Then click on 'All files and Folders' (2).

Then in the search field (3) enter *.QBW for QuickBooks workbook files or *.QBB for QuickBooks Back-up Files. Click 'Search' and Windows will find the files for you.

For Vista / Windows 7:

Click on the Windows Start button (1) and click on where it says 'Start search here' (2) and type in the first few digits of the company name. Windows should now display the search results for that name, including the company file (3).
